Who We Are

We are a group of concerned citizens trying to fight crime through education, awareness and prevention programs. Victims Against Crime, (VAC) is a homicide support and prevention group. We have been serving the Tidewater area with our outreach programs since 1991. We have a free homicide support group that meets twice a month. Meetings are the second and fourth Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the YWCA on 5215 Colley Avenue in Norfolk,VA. We have facilitated many crime and drug awareness programs and workshops over the years, but our major focus is prevention of crime through education.

As part of our focus, VAC grants a yearly scholarship to be used at the school of there choice, to someone who has experienced a homicide in their life.

VAC, along with the group Volunteers of Crime, hosts a yearly free Summer Enrichment Program for children ages 5 to 11, the only one of its type in Tidewater. Our underlying focus is always on prevention of crime through education. In 2009 we celebrated our 12th year offering this unique program to the community. VAC has a wide variety of professional facilitators to assist us in our summer program from the VA. Department of Corrections, Norfolk’s Sheriff Department and Norfolk’s Police Department. In addition, we have three (3) teachers, (from the Hampton Roads Public School System) to educate our students on basic math facts, reading comprehension, writing and Bible verses.
