Homicide Support Group

Victims Against Crime’s first president and founder Jacqueline Scott Sharpe organized the homicide support and prevention group in 1991; after the death of her son Jason LaMont Sharpe. VAC's homicide support group purpose is two fold; to provide a comfortable setting for families of murder victims to come together in a supporting, loving, and understanding environment.

The support, love and understanding come from victims who have gone through similar circumstances. Experienced professionals work to create an environment where family members can express their feelings, find answers to their questions about the court system and learn how others have put their lives back together again, after the death of their love one. Over the years VAC has had a juvenile, teenage, and adult homicide support group and has assisted hundreds of crime victims and their families.

Justin Kolaya:

Justin KolayaPeople have told me that I am a good listener. Some of my peers would confide in me while I was in High School and would walk away saying, "Thanks. You've really helped me." I liked that feeling and realized that I have a natural talent for counseling. That talent has guided me through a formal education in pursuit of counseling as a career. During one of my internships, I became involved with Victims Against Crime (VAC) as a Co-facilitator of the Homicide Support Group. I graduated in May 2009, but decided to continue volunteering with VAC to meet the needs of friends and families grieving the loss of a loved one through homicide.

Jamie Johnson:

Jamie Johnson"All human beings share a common desire to find purpose during their lives here on this earth. Being a member of VAC has allowed me to help others and fight for a cause that devastates so many. I am a member of Victims Against Crime because in this organization I have purpose...To help those who are hurting"

Jacqueline Sharpe:

Jacqueline Sharpe"I wanted to be a part of the homicide support groups facilitation team because I personally know how the individuals who come to our group feel after loosing a love one, because I lost my son. I can feel their pain and share with them how I coped. "
